On the eve of his wedding anniversary, Rafael Nadal grandly inaugurates his ‘Grand Mansion’
World No. 2 and French Open 2020 champion Rafael Nadal was greeted with great news on the eve of his wedding anniversary. His mansion in his has finally begun construction after a long delay of seven years.
This is his dream project!
Located in his hometown of Manacor in Mallorca, Spain, this is Rafa’s dream project. He had bought the property for a whopping 4 million dollars back in 2013. The vast property spans over 700 square meters in area and gives Rafa direct access to something he has a personal connection to – the sea. However, technical hurdles related to the geography of the area delayed his plans for constructing a mansion there.
The news of the start of construction comes at a good time when Rafa and his wife Maria ‘Xisca’ Perello celebrate their first marriage anniversary. The pair have been partners for a long time (since 2005!) and finally settled down last year, when they married on October 19 in a private ceremony at Majorca, Spain.
Rafael Nadal – one of the world’s highest paid athletes
The Spaniard is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, with his many tournament winnings and lucrative brand endorsements.
He has often spoken about his affection for the sea, explaining it as an environment that calms his soul and somewhere that he enjoys himself. This makes his new project special, as it grants him unrestricted access to the Mediterranean Sea. He also owns a huge, luxurious Sunreef Yacht worth over $5 million. During the off-season, he spends a considerable amount of time in the sea and on his yacht. Those leisure periods are set to become even more convenient and relaxing with his new seaside home.
Nadal is also known for being a long-term collaborator with the French luxury watchmaker, Richard Mille. He has seldom been seen on the court without a timepiece from their workshops. To celebrate 10 years of their collaboration, Richard Mille released a limited edition watch named the RM 27-04 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal, worth a whopping $1 million. Rafa wore this very special creation during his title-winning run at the 2020 French Open.
The claycourt season has been good for Nadal. While not being able to collect the Rome Masters trophy, he was able to clinch his record-extending 13th Roland Garros title without dropping a single set. He is now tied with Roger Federer for the most Grand Slams of all time, giving further credentials in support of his ‘Greatest of All Time’ consideration.
