Canelo Alvarez is set to fight the young Mexican fighter Jaime Munguia on May 4. The fight has received a lot of attention, even though fans wanted to witness Alvarez fight David Benavidez. It has also caused Oscar De La Hoya and Alvarez to again deal with each other after their well-known cold war. As such, the promoter recently compared the fight to his fight against the legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez.
Just like Alvarez, Chavez is regarded as one of the greatest Mexican fighters to enter the ring. However, regardless of how talented a boxer is, they always have to deal with the gradual decline that comes with age. De La Hoya believes that Alvarez is now reaching the end of his career. Keeping aside their feud, he mentioned that there is a clear decline in terms of his performance.

In addition, the Golden Boy promoter mentioned how Alvarez has had surgery on his knees and shoulder. As such, De La Hoya believes that the 33-year-old boxer is now slowly showing signs of decline. In comparison, Munguia is only 27 years old and is hungry and motivated to win.
This prompted De La Hoya and Ariel Helwani to compare the fight to De La Hoya’s fight against Chavez. Hence, he believes that his fighter will be able to change the tide of the sport by defeating the top boxer.
Oscar De La Hoya reveals how Munguia can win
Munguia may be younger, but Alvarez has the advantage in terms of experience. Not only is he an intelligent fighter with good timing, but Saul also has the power to deliver a knockout punch. However, this fact has still not affected De La Hoya’s confidence about his fighter emerging victorious.

The promoter is not all talk since he was once a 10-time world champion and an Olympic champion. As such, De La Hoya shared his expertise on how Munguia can defeat Alvarez. He believes the young fighter can outbox Alvarez using his jabs and combinations.
