Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett probably put out the best performance at UFC 304 in Manchester. After months of trash-talking, the Liverpudlian took out Bobby ‘King’ Green and secured a first-round submission victory. However, Pimblett believes he has one-uped Islam Makhachev, who also took out Bobby Green back in 2022.
The fight between Paddy Pimblett and ‘King’ did not last long. At the post-fight press conference, Paddy Pimblett let out a funny little stat about beating Bobby Green a second earlier than reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.
I saw a funny little stat there as well, my coach has just said that I finished him a second faster than Islam Makhachev.Paddy Pimblett at the post-fight press conference
Paddy Pimblett defeated Bobby Green with a first-round technical submission via triangle choke at UFC 304. The fight lasted three minutes, and Green even attempted a double-leg takedown on Pimblett. The Liverpudlian had previously challenged ‘King’ to grapple with him. Pimblett countered with a guillotine choke and transitioned to a triangle choke, taking Green out at 3:22 of the first round.
Islam Makhachev fought Green back in 2022. They headlined the catchweight main event at UFC Fight Night 202 and the Dagestani absolutely dominated Green leading the referee to step in at 3:23 of the first round. Nobody had submitted Green in the past fifteen years, so Pimblett wanted it to be a statement to all his haters and doubters.
Paddy Pimblett’s message to doubters after UFC 304 victory
Paddy Pimblett addressed his critics head-on at the post-fight press conference and his octagon interview with Daniel Cormier. The Liverpudlian expressed his satisfaction after shutting people up for doubting him coming up to the fight against Green.
Paddy Pimblett boasts a professional MMA record of 22 wins and 3 losses. He has not lost a fight since his debut in the UFC. Now with six consecutive wins under his belt, Pimblett can expect a position at the top rankings of the UFC’s lightweight division.
Ah it’s great – you can’t beat shutting people up, brilliant; like I love shutting people up… The amount of people that I’ve seen say ‘He’s never going to be ranked, he’s not good enough to be ranked, he’ll never be in the Top 15’. Even fighters on YouTube, then I go out there and put on a flawless performance, absolutely school them!Paddy Pimblett at the post-fight press conference
The UFC has not updated its rankings list as of yet. However, Pimblett will likely take over King Green’s position as the #15 contender in the UFC’s lightweight division. Now, Pimblett will get to play in the leagues of Renato Moicano, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, and Charles Oliveira. It will be interesting to see what Pimblett does with his newfound position in the division.
