The Olympics take place every four years for a reason. It not only brings together the best athletes in the world, but the gap between the Games also makes the effort that much more historic. In those four years, a lot can change. Therefore, Belgian cycling sensation Remco Evenepoel decided to create a photograph for the ages at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Remco Evenepoel had already won the cycling time trial at the Paris Olympics 2024. But the road race, longest in the history of the event, took them through all the historic landmarks of Paris. The Belgian finished the race with more than a minute ahead of 2nd place. Knowing that, he decided to make it even more historic when he stopped after the finish line.

He dismounted from his bike, kept it parallel to the line and with his arms stretched out, created an iconic photograph with the Eiffel Tower in the background. This photograph will surely make for one of the greatest Olympic photos ever.

However, it could have all gone wrong for Remco Evenepoel with a few kms to go. He suffered a puncture and had to stop to replace his bike.

Thankfully, he regained his composure and continued to attack the final segment, reminiscent of his time trial run. That push helped him to gain enough time over second placed Valentin Madouas to not only win his 2nd gold medal, but also treat the world with an iconic photo.
