Australia’s ace quick and their captain for ODI and Tests, Pat Cummins made a surprising appearance at Silverstone where the British Grand Prix 2024 was being convened. His purpose of visit to the race was to cheer for the Aussie and McLaren sensation, Oscar Piastri.
Oscar Piastri has formerly announced his unbridled love for Australian cricket and has even celebrated his team’s triumph in the 2023 World Cup in scintillating fashion. The presence of Pat Cummins made Piastri delighted and he couldn’t resist himself from taking to social media to emote his happiness.
In fact, such was the love between the two, Cummins also handed Piastri a solid plan to hone his cricketing skills. Piastri shared his picture with Cummins with the caption ‘Bowling royalty meets part-time medium pacer‘.
In response to Piastri’s fun-filled caption, Cummins said, “On the right wicket I think you’d be hard work though. Brilliant weekend.” The exchange of responses was simply a testimony to the blooming friendship and the mutual respect that the two elite athletes have for each other.
Piastri was roaring at one point in time at the British GP as he was well in hunt for P2 with his teammate, Lando Norris leading the charge. However, a sloppy McLaren pit stop played a spanner in the grand scheme of affairs as Piastri could only clinch the P4 spot at Silverstone.
Pat Cummins’ two consecutive hattricks couldn’t propel Australia to the semis of the 2024 T20 World Cup
Pat Cummins had an eventful T20 World Cup despite an unfortunate fate of Australia in the tournament as they crashed out of the Super Eights after a shock defeat to Afghanistan followed by a warring slump against India. Despite starting the tournament on a high with a win against England followed by another emphatic performance against Namibia, the following round saw the Aussies being tested.
Bangladesh stood no match to the fury of the Aussies but Afghanistan pulled off the unthinkable. Cummins claimed a hattrick in both the matches but a poor show from his batters resulted in Australia being pushed into a very tight corner.
With the equation steep enough for the Aussies to brave against India, their defeat paved the path for Afghanistan who penned history by qualifying for the semi-final in the history of the tournament for the first time. However, their fairytale run came to a crashing end against South Africa in the semis.
