Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were the two stars expected to carry the torch and lead the Miami Heat after Jimmy Butler left the club at the trade deadline last year. Unfortunately, that was not the case after poor 2024-25 and 2025-26 campaigns.

Adebayo and Herro spent seven years together in Miami as teammates. However, it was reported that the two former teammates had an altercation in Las Vegas during NBA Summer League. The altercation generated a lot of buzz in the NBA world.

Former NBA player Patrick Beverley weighed in on the altercation between Herro and Adebayo.

Come on man, we got to do better from this. Tyler, you letting this man punch on you in Vegas, man? If you don’t go take some lessons, man. Y’all ex-teammates. Y’all doing too much. Y’all did some special things together and now y’all around here whooping on each other. Y’all got to do better.

It has been a while since Patrick Beverley was last seen on an NBA court. His last appearance was two years ago for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 campaign. Beverley has continued to make headlines by sharing his thoughts on the current affairs of the NBA and has shown support for Herro in the past. However, his latest thoughts saw him urge Herro to take up some “lessons”.

The recent altercation between Herro and Adebayo reportedly began when the former made comments and took shots at the latter on social media without directly naming him. The leaked messages were a conversation between Herro and a Heat fan.

The news of their altercation caught many by surprise as there have been no reports of any animosity between the two stars in the past. The messages saw Herro call out Adebayo for making $60 million per year despite not having enough impact on the team with his performances.

Former Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe had his say on what transpired between the two former Heat teammates.

Damn. I mean Bam ain’t trade you! You need to get mad at Riles! Plus Riles is upset that every year at some point in time you’re gonna get hurt! You know how Riley feel about that… He hates that! I can’t get mad at the damn player. What did Bam do?

Both Adebayo and Herro faced criticism for failing to give the city of Miami anything to cheer about last season. The only bright spark from last season was Adebayo scoring a record-breaking 83 points against the Washington Wizards.

Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro resented Bam Adebayo for being the Heat’s ‘Chosen One’

The altercation between Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo saw their relationship reach a breaking point. But it looks like there is more to it than meets the eye. With Herro departing the Heat and Butler already gone, it seems that the former Heat players were jealous of Adebayo’s exclusive status.

According to Heat insider Barry Jackson, the problems stem from the team’s preferential treatment of their center.

What we can tell you is there has been some level of resentment from multiple former Heat players that Bam was the chosen one here and was given a big $$ extension by the Heat and was never subjected to trade rumors.

It was clear that the Heat were a shell of themselves after Butler’s exit last year. However, with the Heat moving on from Herro, they are looking to build a championship-contending team surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo and Adebayo.
