Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro were teammates for seven years during their time together playing for the Miami Heat. Adebayo is the more senior figure, as he was drafted by the Heat as the 14th pick in the 2017 NBA draft, while Herro was the 13th pick two years later.

Both players played instrumental roles in leading the Heat to the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023. While they came up short both times, they showed they have what it takes to make a deep postseason run.

Unfortunately, Herro’s seven-year spell with the Heat came to an end when he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks a few weeks ago. It looks like a drama broke out in Las Vegas when Adebayo struck Herro during their confrontation.

It was reported that the young guard made some comments about Adebayo on his alternate Instagram account, and the messages got leaked.

It’s a mf making 60 million but they worried about me and what I do…You should get paid 60 million to be a top tier defender on some nights? I’m just wondering…I’m just saying should an elite defender be making 60 million a year? Answer that…If I’m healthy I’m the one who needs help, who did Cleveland prioritize taking away in the playoffs? When I’m healthy, I need help, not the other guy.

The conversation is between Tyler Herro and a Heat fan. While Herro did not directly name anyone, many assumed that he was mocking Adebayo’s contract value. He questioned his former Heat teammate and claimed opposing teams feared him more than the big man during the playoffs.

There have never been reports of the two former teammates engaging in any form of altercation in the past. However, it looks like Herro was left disappointed in being included in the trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek star and Adebayo have already bonded as new teammates and it is possible that it rubbed Herro the wrong way.

Bam Adebayo confronted Tyler Herro about his comments on social media

Bam Adebayo and Herro are coming off a disappointing 2025-26 campaign for the Heat. The two stars were criticized for their unimpressive performances during the season and being the reason for the lack of energy in the city. After missing the playoffs this year, the Heat front office made the biggest move of the offseason by acquiring the ‘Greek Freak.’

Both Herro and Adebayo were in Las Vegas for the 2026 NBA Summer League. According to Shams Charania, after Herro’s messages went viral, Adebayo confronted him, and both players went back and forth. The confrontation led to Adebayo punching the 26-year-old.

Sources tell me that Adebayo struck Herro in the face area as they we’re walking off the practice court. This happened when Bam approached Herro about comments Herro made on social media.

While Herro may have been disappointed in having to leave Miami after seven years, it is clear that Adebayo was irate over his comments. The trade for Antetokounmpo also revealed that the front office views Adebayo as the franchise’s cornerstone alongside their new signing.

Tyler Herro chose to stay mum after the altercation

It is difficult to blame Herro for being upset after his recent move. However, that is how the NBA works, and it is a business. But it is unfortunate that he took to social media to question Adebayo’s abilities. The conversation started off as a basketball conversation before it took its turn.

Following the altercation, Herro chose not to speak about the incident when asked about it.

My only comment is no comment.

It is unfortunate to see ill feelings breaking out between two former teammates. However, the altercation will add a lot of drama when the two teams face off against each other in the upcoming season.
