Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes is well known for his impressive football accomplishments at a young age, and also for his “dad bod.” Mahomes confidently embraces what Vox describes as a ‘softly round’ physique, typically associated with middle-aged men.
The word “dad bod” entered the mainstream in 2015, after an article by a Clemson sophomore Mackenzie Pearson gained popularity. In 2024, the Guardian compiled a list of sportspersons who have embraced the idea of having a soft paunch. The famous publication identified that results and victories don’t necessarily stem from having washboard abs and shredded bodies.
In a recent sitdown with seven-time champion Tom Brady for a segment on NFL on FOX, Mahomes justified his decision to keep the dad bod around. He acknowledged that there’s a reason more than the common rumors of inaction or less time in the gym.
Tom Brady, father of 3, was also once targeted for a pasty dad-bod. A shirtless image of the star alongside his then-wife Gisele Bundchen while vacationing in Costa Rica did the runs through the internet. Brady chuckled in response to Mahomes, adding his two cents.
Bobby Stroupe, Mahomes’ trainer, also had said something more or less what Brady mentioned. Stroupe noted that footballers need at least 14% body fat to absorb the hits. He acknowledged in the interview of the People magazine that there are not many quarterbacks with six packs in HOF and there’s a reason behind it.
Mahomes, 29, has spoken out about the same earlier. The expecting father shared that he was surprised that people are still talking about his physique in an interview at The Pat McAfee Show last May. His wife, Brittany Mahomes, rallied behind the star, asking people to be unapologetically themselves.
Chiefs’ LB lays praise on Patrick Mahomes “dad bod” after Malik Mustapha truck on Sunday
During the Sunday game, Patrick Mahomes trucked down rookie Malik Mustapha who’s shredded to an insane amount. Mustapha, one of the most athletic players on the San Francisco 49ers roster went down quite easily in an altercation with Mahomes.
Post the match, Kansas City Chiefs LB Drue Tranquill showered praise on their star quarterback despite his poor numbers via Jesse Newell. Tranquill spoke volumes of Mahomes after running down Mustapha, expressing that it shows the toughness of the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are six games up on an unbeaten roll. They have easily struck down major foes in the Baltimore Ravens and recently the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs are next headed to Allegiant Stadium for a Sunday game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
