When Patrick Mahomes came into the NFL, many knew he was a special player at the quarterback position. But little did anyone even envision him to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins in seven years. Despite all that, a photograph of him without a shirt on went viral for sporting a ‘dad bod’. Now his trainer comes in with an explanation for him sporting a physique that is generally frowned upon in the league.
Bobby Stroupe, founder of Athlete Performance Enhancement Center, spoke exclusively with People magazine. When asked about the ‘dad bod’ his 3-time Super Bowl winning client sports, he said:
Stroupe was insistent that sporting the ‘dad bod’ does not mean Mahomes has an unhealthy diet. Instead, his training regimen helps him maintain that body fat.
Bobby Stroupe mentioned that the way Patrick Mahomes plays, he is subjected to blows from opposing defenders. That body fat helps him absorb all those blows. In the long run, it will help him stave off serious injuries.
Lean quarterbacks or those with a toned frame are more susceptible to muscle injuries or other physical issues, which can seriously impact their longevity. He pointed out that most Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in NFL history have had what some might call a “dad bod.”

In short, the trainer believes Mahomes still has the potential to improve. At the same time, he can be himself if he stays true to his own methods.
Those comments indicate that the Chiefs star focuses on what is best for him, unlike many who come into the NFL and copy the training and diet regimens of other players. Stroupe feels this dedication to improving himself is what is helping Mahomes on his path to become one of the greats.
With three Super Bowls in the bag, the former 2-time league MVP is well on his way to that goal. All he needs is to use his ‘dad body’ to the full effect and surprise defenders and lead his team to win games.
