Patrick Mahomes is often perceived as a competitive player and he sure isn’t any less than that but that doesn’t mean the quarterback doesn’t know how to strike a balance between his professional and personal life. Following that notion, it appears that Mahomes has quite different plans for his retirement than everyone thought of.
Unlike the NFL legend Tom Brady, who retired from his football career at the age of 45 after completing 23 years, Mahomes doesn’t wish to have such a prolonged career in football.
In a recent interview with TIME magazine for being honored as one of the Most Influential People of 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs star QB opened up about his retirement plans, which he may be a long way but is largely influenced by his family of wife and two adorable children.
I've looked, if I played until Tom [Brady]'s age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old. I would love to play that long. At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If I can do that, I'll continue to play. But if I feel like it's taking away from my family time, that's when I'll know it's time to go.Patrick Mahomes said
Patrick Mahomes is determined to shed his ‘dad bod’
While talking about Brady and how he won most of his championship titles in the latter half of his career, Mahomes emphazised how well the legendary quarterback took care of his body. And if he wishes to play deep into his 40s, the three-time Super Bowl champion needs to prioritize his health at all costs, especially his dad-bod– as he believes so.
Tom's skewed people's brains on how hard that is to do because of how well he took care of his body. So I'm about to make sure that I get rid of this dad bod if I want to play to 45.Patrick Mahomes added
Given, that the quarterback is still in his 20s he appears to have a penchant for junk foods. His wife, Brittany once shared some interesting facts about the quarterback’s diet and his sweet tooth. But with his retirement not happening anytime soon, the quarterback is aware of bringing more discipline to his lifestyle.
