Novak Djokovic has been cleared to play at Wimbledon despite having had a right knee surgery three weeks ago. It will be Djokovic’s first event after the French Open. However, tennis legend Patrick McEnroe doesn’t believe he has a chance to win Wimbledon but admits he can pull off a surprise.
Djokovic tore his midal meniscus during the fourth round of the French Open after slipping several times on the clay court. He underwent surgery in Paris and flew to Serbia for rehabilitation. Several specialists narrated that he would at least miss Wimbledon, as he wouldn’t be fit for the tournament.

But, the Serbian has defied all odds and has had a quick recovery from injury. He arrived at the All England Club days before others for the tournament. Today, he passed the fitness test and was cleared to play at SW19.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are favorites to claim the Wimbledon ahead of Djokovic. Alcaraz won the title last year and recently won his maiden French Open, while Sinner won his maiden grass title in Germany. Seeing this, Patrick McEnroe strongly feels Djokovic will have to pull off an incredible run to win Wimbledon.
Now I have to say that the idea of him playing Wimbledon, if there’s one place where he could pull it off with this injury, having had this injury, maybe he could do it. Maybe this is what he needs to inspire him. He’s looked a little uninspired throughout most of this year, certainly in between Australia and the French Open, where he suffered that injury.Patrick McEnroe said via Tennis365
Djokovic will be playing in his 19th Wimbledon championship, having won the tournament seven times, one shy of Roger Federer‘s record.
Novak Djokovic hoping to win his first title of the season in Wimbledon after a poor start to the year
Despite several attempts, Novak Djokovic has yet to win a title this season. The Serbian reached the semifinals of the Australian Open but lost to eventual champion Jannik Sinner. After a disappointing outcome in Indian Wells Masters, he suffered his first loss against Casper Ruud at Monte Carlo.

At the French Open, despite qualifying for the quarterfinals, he withdrew after an MRI scan revealed that he had torn his meniscus. The Serbian is the No.2 seed at Wimbledon following his No.1 position loss to Sinner.
He will be hoping to claim his 25th Grand Slam at Wimbledon, notwithstanding his poor results this year. He will play Czech Republic qualifier Vit Kopriva in the opening round at SW19. His first major test will be against Polish star Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals if he sails through previous rounds.
