Carlos Alcaraz has defeated Jannik Sinner in the three matches they have played against each other this year but the latter is the most consistent player this year with eight singles titles on the ATP Tour. And it’s his consistency that makes him more ‘dangerous’ than Alcaraz, believes renowned French coach Patrick Mouratoglou.

Mouratoglou, who now coaches Naomi Osaka, has even compared Sinner to Novak Djokovic and called him Djokovic 2.0. The 54-year-old pointed out Sinner is a player who is not missing and has ‘fire’ in the racket and this is why he is World No. 1 over Alcaraz.

Alcaraz can create more. He has this extra power and he can fight with him in terms of movement also. The thing is, Alcaraz is making quite a lot of unforced errors whereas Sinner doesn’t, so in the matches between them, there are a lot of ups and downs and it changes often.

The 23-year-old for the first time in his career, ended the season as World No.1 and also lifted the ATP Finals trophy for the first time. Sinner and Italy recently defended their Davis Cup title with a 2-0 win over the Netherlands.

Patrick Mouratoglou continues to explain what makes Jannik Sinner better player than Carlos Alcaraz

Patrick Mouratoglou believes Carlos Alcaraz cannot play at his full potential for a whole match but Jannik Sinner has that ability. And this is why, as per the Frenchman, Sinner’s opponents are always in danger in every shot.

When Alcaraz plays at his best, I think he’s able to be better than Sinner – but he cannot play like this a whole match, and Sinner is always stable. Sinner can hit a winner on every single shot. That’s the feeling. You can never relax.

Patrick Mouratoglou said during the episode of Eye of the Coach

Alcaraz leads 6-4 in their head-to-head counter and the only match he lost against Sinner was in the final of an exhibition event in Riyadh. While Sinner won eight titles, Alcaraz has won four finals on the tour, with both sharing the four Grand Slam trophies between them.

Both Alcaraz and Sinner ended this season following the Davis Cup. Alcaraz was part of Spain and they were knocked out of the tournament by the Netherlands, who then lost the final to Italy.
