Patrick Mouratoglou says Carlos Alcaraz did “the most difficult thing” this season by winning back-to-back Grand Slam titles

Jannik Sinner will end the year as World No.1 for the first time in his career, yet the tennis world will still remember Carlos Alcaraz for his great performances this year. The Spaniard has won two Grand Slam titles this year (Sinner with the other two). Legendary coach Patrick Mouratoglou has hailed the 21-year-old for his achievements this season.
Alcaraz began the year poorly but found his rhythm in March. He claimed his first title of the 2024 season at the Indian Wells Masters after beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. He continued with the form at the French Open, where he defeated Sinner and Alexander Zverev to claim his maiden clay major.
He didn’t back down in the grass season. He defeated Medvedev in the semifinals and then Novak Djokovic in straight sets to claim his second consecutive Wimbledon Championship. The 21-year-old represented his country at the Paris Olympics and had to settle for the silver singles medal after losing to Djokovic in the final.
In a recent interview, Patrick Mouratoglou revealed that looking back into the season Alcaraz’s achievement was the biggest and most difficult to this year.
Alcaraz has returned to the Tour at the Paris Masters which began on Monday (October 28). The Spaniard has struggled at the event, with only one quarterfinal to boast of. With Sinner already having withdrawn from the tournament, he will be aiming to win the Masters 1000 title.

Carlos Alcaraz experienced a difficult second half of the season after the Paris Olympics. The Spaniard won just one match in two tournaments, including a shocking second-round exit at the US Open. He has bounced back from the disappointment helping Team Europe win the Laver Cup.
He also defeated Jannik Sinner at the China Open final to claim his fourth title of the campaign. In the aforementioned interview, Patrick Mouratoglou revealed that the Alcaraz during that period was due to mental exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz faced Nicolas Jarry in the second round of the Paris Masters. The Spaniard eased past him in straight sets.
