On an Instagram reel, in collaboration with UTS (Ultimate Tennis Showdown), Patrick Mouratoglou spoke about the future of men’s tennis. Throughout his career, Mouratoglou has coached several tennis players, including Laura Robson, Yanina Wickmayer, Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, and Serena Williams.
In collaboration with businessman Alex Popyrin, father of the tennis player Alexei Popyrin, Mouratoglou organized the UTS. This international individual tennis league was founded in 2020 originally as a response to the disruption of the professional tennis season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the UTS has since taken place every year except in 2022.
The new generation is great. It was a different kind of tennis with two players, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who were incredibly consistent who built points a lot. If you look at Alcaraz, for example, he’s more of a puncher. But I think it’s very interesting because he can do so many different things and he does everything so well. He plays drop shots, he goes to the net, he has incredible power, incredible touch, and he does all that in a match, it’s crazy. So it’s very exciting, you never get bored, there’s always something happening. Of course, he’s not as consistent as Rafa and Novak in their prime or Sinner today, who is incredibly consistent, but he’s more fiery.

With Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, Patrick Mouratoglou believes that the future of tennis is in safe hands. With multiple Grand Slam wins and ATP titles to their names, both players have cemented their mark in the sport at a young age.
Sinner is known for his tenacity, consistency, and dominance on hard courts. He has good lateral movement, which is attributed in part to Sinner’s background in skiing. Meanwhile, Alcaraz is known for not only being a strong competitor on all surfaces but also an excellent entertainer with his interesting selection of shots, particularly his drop shots.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s 2025 season so far
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner had a smooth start to his 2025 season, where he defended his Australian Open title, defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets. However, a few weeks later, his suspension was announced by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). He is serving this suspension from February 9 to May 4 on account of his doping case.

During this period, the Italian will miss the North American swing along with several of the clay court tournaments that lead up to the Roland Garros. The next tournament that he will be eligible to play in would be the Italian Open, which begins on May 7.
Meanwhile, World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz has also had a fairly good 2025 season. After exiting the Australian Open in the quarterfinals, losing to Novak Djokovic, Alcaraz went on to play at the Rotterdam Open. In his debut at this tournament, the Spaniard won the first indoor title of his career.
The Spaniard then went on to compete in the Qatar Open, however, he lost to Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals. He is currently in Puerto Rico, where he will play an exhibition match against Frances Tiafoe. Following this, Alacaraz will be looking to defend his Indian Wells title with the ATP Masters 1000 tournament starting next week.
