Roger Federer
Paul Annacone is one of the most reputed coach in the tennis world. Annacone was himself a Grandslam champion, having won the Australian Open Men’s Doubles title in 1985. The American has coached some legendary players like Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka.
Currently, Annacone is handling the coaching department of the talented American player, Taylor Fritz. He was Roger Federer’s coach from 2010-2013 and under his guidance, the Swiss lifted his seventh Wimbledon title. Federer also managed to win the Nitto ATP Finals title in consecutive years in 2010 and 2011. Annacone is a huge fan of Roger Federer and never shies away from praising the Swiss maestro for his incredible skills.
In a recent interview with Washington Post, Paul Annacone waxed lyrical about Federer’s love for tennis and how he continues to remain on top of his game. “Roger Federer loves the game of tennis and enjoys the environment. He has been at the top of the game for many years,” said Annacone.
Being Roger Federer is not an easy task: Annacone
Paul Annacone added that being Roger Federer is by no means an easy task given the amount of pressure he faces when he takes the court. However, the American believes that Federer embraces his responsibility with both hands and enjoys dealing with the pressure.
“Roger accepts and enjoys the responsibility of being ‘Roger Federer’ — that sounds easy, but it is not,” Annacone said.
Roger Federer recently made his return to tennis at the Qatar Open 2021 after missing in action for almost 14 months. The Swiss underwent two knee surgeries which ruled him out of the 2020 season. After his quarterfinal loss in Doha, Federer had withdrawn from the Dubai Open and the Miami Open 2021. He is expected to make his return at the Monte Carlo Masters, his first tournament on clay since 2019.
