Paul Heyman is arguably the most polarizing figure in professional wrestling history. A master storyteller and the creative force behind ECW, Heyman’s brilliance was often matched by his shortcomings as a businessman, shortcomings that ultimately led to the company’s collapse in 2001. But that failure didn’t end his career.
After joining WWE the same year, Heyman introduced Brock Lesnar to the company, helping launch one of the most dominant careers in wrestling history. He later shaped SmackDown’s creative direction and guided stars like CM Punk and Roman Reigns to new heights.
Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024, Heyman has since managed Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker after betraying Punk and Reigns at WrestleMania 41. Now, with Rollins out of the picture, he’s steering The Vision into WWE’s future. Given his resume, many would assume the 60-year-old is nearing the end of his run.
But Heyman disagrees. With over four decades in the business, he boldly predicts another 40 years ahead. Speaking to ESPN about WWE’s future, usually a discussion centered on names like Breakker, Dominik Mysterio, or Rhea Ripley, he offered a very different answer.
[Are you asking me] So, who do we keep our eye on for the future? Paul Heyman. I’m just getting started. I’m just figuring this stuff out. It took me this long to really, I mean, I kind of knew it. I was kind of faking it before I made it. Then I started to really get into it. I’m just really figuring this out now. I got another 40 years ahead of me. Wait till you see what I do next.

Beyond his on-screen roles, Heyman’s wrestling journey stretches back to his teenage years as a ringside photographer, later working as a producer and manager in Jim Crockett Promotions before leading ECW and eventually joining WWE after its acquisition.
Now at 60 years of age, he jokes that his kids may need to take care of him if he ever retires, since he plans to spend every dollar he has earned.
Paul Heyman weighs in on Seth Rollins’ injury and his WWE return timeline
After guiding Roman Reigns through a historic 1,316-day reign as The Wiseman, Paul Heyman shocked the WWE Universe at WrestleMania 41 by betraying both Reigns and CM Punk to align with Seth Rollins.
Together, Rollins and Heyman formed The Vision, bringing in Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed as key members. Rollins officially unveiled the faction after the WrestleMania 41 main event, introducing Heyman as his Oracle and adding Breakker on the April 21 episode of RAW.

Reed joined soon after, interfering on Rollins’ behalf at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. The group quickly dominated the red brand, with Rollins capturing the 2025 Men’s Money in the Bank contract and later the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
But everything unraveled after Crown Jewel: Perth, when Rollins suffered a severe shoulder injury in his singles bout against Cody Rhodes. The company then decided to write him off TV by having Breakker betray him and convince Reed and Heyman to follow suit.
During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith asked Paul Heyman whether he was concerned about Rollins’ condition. Heyman admitted he always worries about the former Visionary and praised him as one of WWE’s all-time greats.
I am always worried about Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins is an all-time great competitor, a guaranteed first ballot Hall of Famer. It’s terrible what happened to Seth Rollins. It’s even more terrible what Bron Breakker did to Seth Rollins, and I think WWE itself is looking forward to Seth Rollins’ return, whenever that may be.

Rollins recently offered his own update, revealing he expects to be out 8 to 12 weeks, potentially returning during WrestleMania season. Whether The Visionary’s projected timeline comes true remains to be seen, but anticipation for his comeback is already building.
