Former Manchester United defender, Paul Parker believes Bruno Fernandes will eventually “run out of steam” if Ole doesn’t sign new players. He has even advised the Red Devils to invest in a new striker and a midfielder.

Manchester United secured the most points among all sides in the premier league, since Bruno’s arrival in January. The Portuguese midfielder has registered 10 goals and 8 assist for the club. United secured a berth in next season’s UEFA Champions League and are in contention for this season’s Europa league title.

However Ole’s 19 match unbeaten run came to an end in a FA-Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea. Parker feels United needs more squad depth for a better finish next season on.

Paul Parker on Bruno Fernandes and Manchester united

In an Interview with Talksport Parker said, “I think they’re capable of [winning the Europa League] with the way they’ve played since lockdown. You’d have to say they won the lockdown league with the points they won and they must be confident. It’s probably the most confident a United team has been since 2013. But they need signings. They can’t go as they are, there’s no way they can do that. They’ve done great this season, but there’s no way they can start next season expecting these same players to go and do the same again.”

“Fernandes will run out of steam early because he takes so much on himself, he wants to be on the ball, he tracks people back, and they’ll be too dependent on him for every game if they carry on as they are. Everyone is looking at [Paul] Pogba now, he’s had his little stint back in the starting line-up, but there’s still too many issues about him defensively. They need cover in midfield and I still believe they need a centre-forward, I really, really do,” also added Parker.

Manchester united face FC Copenhagen in the last eight of the Europa League. This quarterfinal will played in Germany and is of a single tie format. The Red Devils would need to bring their A-Game against the Danish side, in order to advance further in the competition.
