Spanish ace Paula Badosa relates to Dominic Thiem’s decision to retire. In a recent interview, she sympathized with the Austrian, as he announced his last year of play before retirement in a rather shocking moment for the fans.

A few weeks earlier, Thiem stated that because of his wrist, he cannot play at his highest level, and will hang up his racket after a last lap. He will retire in front of his crowd in Vienna. Being able to relate with him, the Spaniard had some friendly words for Thiem.

In a recent interview with the Georgy Tennis YouTube channel, Badosa related to the Austrian’s decision to retire when she was out on the sidelines due to an injury. She understood about falling after being on top of the tour.

Sport is very emotional. Mentally he is brutal. He pushes you to the limit. I also went through a lot this year and couldn't see the light. I didn't know what to do, I was lost and I understand this feeling of not finding solutions. Seeing yourself so low after being at the top is not easy. You have to be very strong mentally. The love of this sport is what allows me to continue to compete.
said Paula Badosa in the interview

While Badosa was World No.2 once, she fell way below 100 due to her injury. Similarly, even Dominic Thiem had to fall due to an injury and has since not been able to make it back. Though he targeted the top 50 at the start of the year, it seems rather plain now.

Out of the blue, Badosa released a breakup post, allegedly indicating the end of the relationship. She mentioned that they had mutually decided to break up. However, the two were recently seen a couple of times together

They were spotted twice in a recording at Monaco. It seems like there is a possibility of them being back together again. Fans even speculate that this can be a way to throw fans off their radar. They did try it once before when both Badosa and Tsitsipas removed each other’s pictures from their Instagram. While nothing is known now, fans are eager to hear from Badosa once again.
