Paula Badosa doesn’t want to mention a thing about her ex-boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas and his family anymore. Badosa, who at a press conference in Berlin called her relationship with the Greek ace “toxic”, said the viral video involving Tsitsipas’ father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, summarizes a lot of things.

In the video, Badosa sat behind Apostolos to watch one of Tsitsipas’ Wimbledon matches. While clapping, Apostolos looks behind, and Badosa instantly looks toward him with a facial expression that clearly shows extreme discomfort.

That video has been sent to me many times (laughs). My face says it all. It explains a lot of things. That video is the summary! Anyone who has been close to the situation knows what I mean. There were many of them. I suffered a lot for a year, what I and the people around me went through was very difficult, and now, seeing myself well again and with that strength, it also gave me the strength to speak about what I went through — so that many people could connect with that story.

Paula Badosa told CLAY

Badosa and Tsitsipas started dating in 2023 but split about a year later. But their breakup did not last long as they soon got back together. After dating for one more year, they reportedly split after their Wimbledon exit last year.

Everything comes out in the end. But he is a person — him and those around him — that I do not want to name any more or dwell on. I simply wanted to make it clear, as a person, that I have character, too. And when you sometimes let it out and close a chapter, you feel a little freer, and that is what I want: to turn the page and not mention those people again.

Paula Badosa added

Badosa confirmed the breakup on her 28th birthday last year by sharing pictures on her Instagram wearing “Sexy and single” and “28 and Still a 10” sashes. Tsitsipas later uploaded a vlog to his YouTube channel about his trip to Namibia and went public with his girlfriend, Kristen Thoms.

At Wimbledon, Badosa, a former World No.2, will lock horns with 23rd seed Emma Navarro in the first round. The one-time Grand Slam semifinalist has never progressed beyond the fourth round at SW19. The Spaniard last won a title at the 2024 Citi Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas once again ended his professional relationship with his dad

Stefanos Tsitsipas has made it clear that he will no longer be working with his dad, Apostolos Tsitsipas. In the pre-tournament press conference, the two-time Grand Slam finalist said the older he gets, the harder he finds it to maintain a stable professional relationship with his dad.

It will take him some time to accept it, as it did the last time we split. Back then, I left a small window open. Now I believe he has a great deal to offer others — but to me, I think he’s already given everything he possibly could.

Tsitsipas said he has reached a point where he is looking for something completely different. He also realized that he was being complacent while working with Apostolos. This is the third time Tsitsipas fired his dad as his coach. He is working with Thomas Perrin, a member of Patrick Mouratoglou’s academy team.

Tsitsipas will start his campaign in the grass-court Major against Hugo Gaston. He has never reached the fourth round here. Tsitsipas last won a title at the 2025 Dubai Tennis Championships. The only time he reached a quarterfinal this year was at the Qatar Open.
