“First one that I threw, I saw in his eyes that he felt a little bit lost,” Pedro Munhoz knew that Jimmie Rivera was hurt from the first leg kick he threw
Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera fought each other after almost six years at UFC Vegas 20 and after three rounds of back and forth exchange the outcome of the fight was set by almost by a single technique.
The technique was calf-kicks, these are very prominent in today’s time and many fighters use these to completely immobilize their opponent and gain a significant speed and movement advantage over them.
Munhoz used them perfectly against Rivera and he knew he has damaged his lead leg from the very first kick he threw, in an interview with UFC broadcaster he said, “First one that I threw, I saw in his eyes that he felt a little bit lost, like a little bit hurt, then in the moment, I realized, I said, ‘I’m going to keep applying it.”
“That’s something that I’ve been training for a long time and I display in a lot of my fights, too. I just felt like the right moment to apply the technique.”
Pedro Munhoz is ready to fight T.J Dillashaw
With his impressive victory over Rivera, Munhoz is ready to face some big names in the division. He’s already defeated Cody Garbrandt and is looking to welcome T.J Dillashaw back in the octagon.
He said, “That’s the type of fight that I like to be in.
“Many people are saying T.J.’s coming back. Nothing against him. He’s such a great fighter, a former champ. I respect him and his whole team. I think I would be ready to welcome him back.”
