Francis Ngannou recently made headlines with the announcement of his boxing match with Anthony Joshua. Ngannou had an ugly split with Dana White and the UFC, after which he signed with the PFL. Ngannou made his boxing debut against Tyson Fury after he signed with the PFL. He surprised everybody with his performance in the fight, which he lost by split decision.
MMA journalist The Schmo recently interviewed former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Rockhold talked about upcoming title fights at UFC 297 and UFC 299 in the interview and also about Francis Ngannou in the interview. This is what Rockhold said about Ngannou.
Francis is the king, man. He's the king of kings, and he's done his thing like nobody else has. He stood up for himself and has gotten everything he's worth for him and more.Luke Rockhold via YT
Ngannou faced criticism when he left the UFC for PFL. However, his subsequent fight with Tyson Fury changed his opinion. Rockhold has also had his fair share of conflict with the UFC brass during his time. Rumors are that Ngannou will make nearly 20 million dollars for his fight with Joshua.
Rockhold last fought at Bareknuckle boxing against Mike Perry but lost via retirement. Karate Combat offered him a fight with Lyoto Machida, but Machida declined the fight. Now, Rockhold’s full concentration was on making close friend Marlon Vera a bantamweight champion at UFC 299. He even declined to fight a week before Vera.
Ex-UFC middleweight champion expects Francis Ngannou to prevail over Anthony Joshua
March 8th, 2024, is the Francis Ngannou vs. Anthony Joshua boxing match date. The fight announcement broke the internet. Even though Ngannou had a good performance against Tyson Fury on his boxing debut, he still remains a big underdog against Joshua.
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold provided his take on the fight. Rockhold predicted a victory for Ngannou. He stated that Ngannou was too powerful for Joshua even though Joshua was a good boxer. Many share the same opinion as Rockhold. Ngannou had scored a knockdown over Fury in their bout.
Many believe that Joshua does not have the same chin as Fury and a single clean hit from Ngannou will knock Joshua out cold. Joshua recently headlined the PPV in Saudi Arabia with Otto Walin. Joshua had suffered a knockout loss before in his career against Andy Ruiz and also has two decision losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
