PFL Paris had an unceremonious ending in the main event. However, the preliminary card of the event was very exciting. Only one fight went the distance, and all the other six fights ended in the first round. One of those fights ended hilariously due to the actions of a fighter.

Islem Masraf defeated Mickael Groguhe in a heavyweight clash in the second last bout of the preliminary card. Masaf finished the fight via head kick and follow-up punches. The fight lasted just 12 seconds. It was not the finish, but the way Groguhe casually strolled before it happened made headlines. PFL has had many exciting moments, but this was not it.

As the fight began, Masaf kept his guard up high and bounced on his foot as he took matters seriously. On the other hand, Groguhe seemed not to take the fight seriously or might have underestimated Masaf. He did not even keep his guard up, let alone have any sort of footwork.

PFL Paris was the debut of both fighters with the promotion. Masraf kept his undefeated record intact with the victory. All his victories came via finish. On the other hand, Groguhe had his 3-fight win streak stopped and now fell to 3-2 in professional MMA.

PFL Paris kicked off with a thrilling submission finish

Six of the seven fights in the preliminary card of PFL Paris ended in a first-round finish. Out of these six finishes, four were submissions. PFL Paris kicked off with an impressive kneebar submission victory for Kevin Delagainst against Younes Najid. Delagainst was not the aggressor in the bout but countered the aggression of Najid as he took the fight to the ground.

Najid initially defended the submission attempts from the Delagainst but fell short of defending the kneebar attempt. Unlike traditional kneebar submissions, Delagainst trapped both of Najid’s legs before he trapped one of the legs and forced a tap out of Najid. The fight was the debut of both fighters in the promotion, and Delagainst’s victory stayed true to his nickname, “Octopus.”

With the victory, Delagainst improved his record to 5-7-1 whilst Najid fell to 6-6. Najid’s brother Yassin also fought at PFL Paris in the final fight of the preliminary card. Like his brother, Yassin suffered a submission loss due to a Von Flue choke from Daniele Miceli in a welterweight bout. Incidentally, both the Najid brothers have the nickname ‘Scientist’. With the victory, Miceli moved to the semi-finals of the PFL welterweight tournament.
