UFC welterweight Themba Gorimbo became an overnight sensation due to his charitable endeavors. His charitable endeavors got the attention of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The WWE legend gifted him a home to live in the USA. Gorimbo had dedicated a significant portion of his fight purse to social and infrastructural development in his native Zimbabwe.

PFL light heavyweight champion Impa Kasanganay is American, but his parents are Congolese. Themba Gorimbo had inspired Kasanganay with his actions. Kasanganay spoke of it on his interview with FirstSportz Ajinkya Aswale. This was what Kasanaganay said in the interview.

I love what he's (Themba Gorimbo) doing; he's an inspiration, you know, for me...I like to do something about the summertime, especially going into next year, uh, make it organized, whether it's like fitness equipment, medical supplies, helping out with different educational tools, whether sponsoring a child to go to school here in the United States or in Europe or somewhere, or in Africa.

Kasanganay also has plans to improve the infrastructure in Africa. Moreover, he also remarked that his mother encouraged him to do charity. Kasanganay’s promotion PFL already has plans to develop MMA in Africa. Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is an equity owner and Chairman of PFL Africa.

Kasanaganay will fight in the co-main event in a light heavyweight bout of PFL vs Bellator PPV on February 24. His opponent is the undefeated Bellator middleweight champion, Johnny Eblen. Fans highly anticipate the PFL vs Bellator event particularly after the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury fight cancellation.

Impa Kasanganay found support from faith, family, and teammates after UFC release

UFC CEO Dana White had high hopes for Impa Kasanganay. However, it took him two appearances at the Dana White Contender Series to get into the UFC. Nonetheless, the UFC released him after a four-fight stint which went 2-2. One of those losses was the viral knockout by Joaquin Buckley.

The release from UFC did not demotivate him, even though he lost his next fight at Eagle FC. Kasanganay has not lost since then. He won the PFL challenger series and went on to bag 1 million dollars at PFL 10 2023 as he became the light heavyweight champion. In the interview with FirstSportz, Kasanganay credited his faith, family, and teammates for the victory. He stated that these three factors kept his dreams alive when he thought all was done.

Kasanaganay is Christian and regularly reads the bible. Moreover, he has a loving family, as both his parents fought hardship to raise Kasanganay and his siblings. Furthermore, his gym, Kill Cliff FC, is home to several high-profile MMA fighters like Shavkat Rakhmonov, Michael Chandler, Gilbert Burns, and Kamaru Usman, among others.
