Carlos Alcaraz won again on Sunday. The 22-year-old made an epic comeback in the French Open final to stun Jannik Sinner and claimed his 5th slam. After his win, the PGA Tour account on X would compare him with Tiger Woods. This was something that did not sit well with golf fans.

The final between Alcaraz and Sinner turned out to be a topsy-turvy one. Sinner, the World No.1, won the first 2 sets and seemed to be on pace for another major victory. Alcaraz though was not done there yet.

The Spanish International mounted a comeback. He won 3 straight sets with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (10-2) and edged out his rival. This victory marked his 2nd straight French Open title and made him the 3rd youngest player in tennis history to win 5 major Titles by the age of 22 after Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal.

Following his win, several top names penned down congratulatory messages towards him. The PGA Tour were among one of them.

The PGA Tour account on X compared Alcaraz to Tiger Woods. The post highlighted how even Woods had not won 5 major titles by the age of 22, thus expressing the brilliance of the young tennis star on the court.

Alcaraz first won the US Open in 2022 and then went back-to-back at Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024. He has now gone back-to-back at the French Open.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods was 21 years old when he torched the playing field at the Augusta National in 1997 to claim his first Masters Tournament title. He would go on to a crazy run and held all 4 major championships at the same time, he was older than Alcaraz at that point.

This comparison between the two athletes did not sit well with golf fans. Many slammed the tour for comparing him with Woods. One user wrote, “Don’t try to compare anyone to the goat” while attacking the account.

Check out that and some other reactions from X below:

The Australian Open is now the only slam that Alcaraz has not won. If he manages to win that, he will become just the 9th different tennis player to complete the career grand slam and win all 4 major titles.

As for Tiger Woods, he has already completed the career grand slam 3 times. In the year 2000, Woods won the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and the Open Championship. In 2001, he won the Masters Tournament again and became the first player to hold all 4 major titles at the same time. This was later dubbed the “Tiger Slam.”

Tiger Woods was recently seen on a golf course for the first time since Achilles injury

Tiger Woods is once again watching the action from the sidelines as he got injured again this year. He tore his Achilles tendon before the Masters Tournament and has since undergone surgery to repair it. He was recently seen on a golf course for the first time since this injury.

The 15-time major champion was recently spotted in a golf cart cheering for his son, Charlie Woods. The young Woods was taking part in the Florida Amateur Championship a few days after winning his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title.

The former World No.1 golfer was seen wearing a light blue Sun Day Red T-shirt. He would pair this up with matching pants, sunglasses, and a white cap. The major thing about this was that he was seen without any protective boot, indicating that things have been going well for him on his road to recovery.

Woods has not made a competitive start this year. He, though, had been active and took part in the inaugural season of the TGL and represented his team, Jupiter Links GC. Given the timeline required to recover from an Achilles tear, the chances of him making an appearance on the PGA Tour in an official event are low.
