‘Phenomenal’ Stephen Curry gets MASSIVE praise from Anthony Davis after Team USA scrimmage
Team USA has brought together the best of the best American basketball players onto one team.
Phenomenal Stephen Curry gets massive praise from Anthony Davis after Team USA scrimmage
Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has played with two superstars in his NBA career. Both of them happen to be forwards or bigger. Nevertheless, in Team USA scrimmages, he played alongside a superstar guard, Stephen Curry. Now, after knowing what it is to play alongside a guard who was at the All-NBA level, he could see why his Olympics teammates are on another level.
After the first scrimmage ended, all the players took turns answering questions from reporters. One of them asked Anthony Davis how it was playing with his superstar Olympic teammates. Davis praised everyone but gave a special mention to the Golden State Warriors superstar.
This guy named Steph Curry is phenomenal to play with. He was on my team today. I got so many open looks.Anthony Davis via media interview following Team USA training camp
That is some high praise coming from an All-NBA player as himself. More importantly, that praise came after just one round of scrimmages. This glowing praise solidifies the fact that Stephen Curry is one of one when it comes to the best guards in the history of the NBA. Anthony Davis did play with an elite guard in Rajon Rondo. However, the now coaching candidate did not score at an elite level like Curry.
Furthermore, Curry can strike fear into opponents in the only way he can. That dual-sensed threat makes life much easier for the likes of the superstar big man. Now, head coach Steve Kerr must figure out how to use the talents at hand to return home with the Olympic Gold.
Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis could start for Team USA
Considering all the superstars on the Team USA roster, it is a tough task to figure out the best combinations. Not everything is straightforward with this squad. Yes, they could pair teammates together. But even then, that cannot guarantee success. The illustrious coaching staff of Team USA will need to make a game plan based on the opponents.
Therefore, it could come down to Stephen Curry throwing a lob to Anthony Davis in transition. They are both mobile enough to finish such plays. Or Davis can take on a double team, only to kick the ball out to Curry for a three-pointer. This version of Team USA is about to be as exciting as there could ever be.
A probable starting lineup of Davis, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Curry, and LeBron James will be too much for any national team to take on. Add in the rest of the bench, and the Paris Olympics will showcase basketball at its finest, even if none of the Americans play significant minutes.
