Phil Baroni trashes UFC lightweight fighters

(Phil Baroni)

Long time MMA veteran, Phil Baroni, has been far from impressed with the lightweight division as of recent. So much so, he decided to take his controversial thoughts to twitter, where he called out not one, but two major names in the lightweight division. The two names that came to fruition were Justin Gaethje, And Donald Cerrone.

With Phil being known for his outspoken personality, his confrontational comments were no surprise to the MMA fans. Mentioning number 2 ranked lightweight Justin Gaethje was overrated. Even adding that he had quit in his most previous loss against lightweight champion, Khabib. From there he pivoted his attention to Donald, saying “he folded like a deck of cards” in his fight with Conor Mcgregor.

Who’s the broadcaster who told it like it is, and said cowboy folded?

“@TeamKhabib just said what I predicted @Justin_Gaethje is over rated and would quit,” Baroni wrote on Twitter. “When the going [got] tough [he] got tapping. A bunch of over rated jobbers like a @Cowboycerrone when the going gets tough they get tapping [via BJPenn.com]

“@stephenasmith calls it like he sees it and is correct. Cowboy folded like an old deck of cards. did his job right @danawhite ? @DustinPoirier wasn’t playing that shit and stuck it up their candy asses as the @TheRock would say. He shoulda been the ref, it was an unworked work.” [via BJPenn.com]

With his “fire from the hip” mentality, Baroni clearly isn’t aiming to make any new friends. To his credibility, the disappointment is justifiable in regards to Cerrone’s current losing streak, but can the same be said for Justin? He is still sitting at the number two ranked spot in the UFC lightweight division. As he eagerly awaits for another title shot, its difficult to imagine there is any “quitter” in Justin Gaethje.
