Manchester City forward Phil Foden revealed that the club is not eyeing the Premier League title this season despite being the defending champions. His comments came after the club secured a thumping 6-0 victory over 18th-placed Ipswich Town.

Phil Foden scored his second consecutive brace, helping Man City secure their biggest EPL win this season. He netted twice in the first 45 minutes, as well as assisted Mateo Kovacic. It took Foden’s season tally to nine goals and four assists in 25 appearances after a slow start to the season. Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku, and James McAtee were the others on target against Ipswich.

Moreover, the win allowed the defending EPL champions to reclaim their place back among the top four on the table. They still remain 12 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool. Manchester City are now on the verge of staging a comeback after having endured a two-month long slump. Pep Guardiola‘s side have now won four out of their last five encounters.

On his match-winning display against Ipswich, Foden noted that it was the club’s best display this season, in terms of defensive record. Moreover, he highlighted the team’s recent improvements, having returned to shape. He added that City’s intent is to keep its place among the top four this season.

I learned everything from it [poor form]. It is good to see me back scoring goals with a smile on my face and enjoying football. I want to keep going and adding to that. The aim is to stay in the top four.
