On Wednesday, reports emerged that Wesley Bryan had been suspended from the PGA Tour for taking part in the LIV Golf’s The Duels: Miami event. 6-time major champion and LIV Golfer Phil Mickelson would later urge the Department of Justice (DOJ) of Donald Trump to intervene in this matter.

The Duels: Miami was a content creator event of the LIV Golf, which saw some YouTube stars team up LIV Golfers in a 2v2 tournament. This came a few days after the PGA Tour hosted the Creator Classic at the TPC Sawgrass, which was won by Grant Horvat.

Unlike the other content creators, Wesley Bryan is a member of the PGA Tour. Before the event, the creators were reported to have received warning from the tour about potential bans from future events. However, they pushed back at it and the sanctions threat were dropped.

However, Bryan has now been suspended from the tour. As per reports from Monday Q Info, the golfer has been suspended indefinitely and will not be eligible to compete on the circuit. Phil Mickelson, who received a similar ban for joining LIV Golf in 2022, questioned this move on X.

Here’s a question. Normally when an entity violates independent contract law, they deny that it happened and forces the contractor/individual to prove that it did. In this case the PGA Tour blatantly admits they are illegally banning an independent contractor so why doesn’t they DOJ step in and enforce the law? Why does the individual have to sue to enforcer the law? DOJ do your fffing job!

Mickelson is one LIV Golfer with whom Bryan shot several videos and uploaded on his YouTube. The HyFlyers GC captain was thus not impressed to see Bryan being suspended and urged for Donald Trump‘s DOJ to get involved in this matter.

The DOJ has come up in several golf discussions lately. The body is said to be one of the obstacles in the ongoing merger talks with PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia.

Phil Mickelson’s suffers major OWGR slump after missing the cut at The Masters

Last week, Phil Mickelson was one of the 12 LIV Golfers who participated in The Masters Tournament. Following the first two rounds, he was one of the 5 who missed the cut. After failing to make the cut, he suffered a major slump in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

LIV Golf does not receive OWGR points. The members of this tour only receive these points during the major championships or by playing on the DP World Tour and other tours.

Mickelson, who only plays on the LIV Golf circuit, only gets these points from playing in the major championships. The 3-time Masters champion had a rough outing this week and ended up missing the cut.

As a result of this, he fell outside of the top 1,000 rankings for the first time in his career. The “Lefty” now ranks at 1,025th after failing to make the cut at the Augusta National.

Mickelson previously claimed that he does not care about the OWGR anymore. Given that he is a 45-time PGA Tour winner, which includes 6 major championship wins, he does not necessarily need those points to qualify for the major championships.

Golf analyst takes another swipe at Phil Mickelson after The Masters Tournament

This past Sunday saw Rory McIlroy win the Masters Tournament and complete the career grand slam. He thus became just the 6th player to win all four major championships of golf. A golf analyst took another swipe at Phil Mickelson in this regard.

Before this tournament, Mickelson was one of the three active golfers, along with Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, to have won 3 legs of the career grand slam. The veteran golfer needs to win the U.S. Open to complete the career grand slam.

In his career, he has suffered multiple heartbreaks in this event. Mickelson has a staggering 6 runner-up finishes in this major championship.

A user on X would ask golf analyst Brandel Chamblee, why he omitted the name of Mickelson of the list of golfers who were getting closer to completing the career grand slam. The analyst would point out his recent U.S. Open record and claimed that he never really got close in the past decade.

Closest he came at the US Open after winning The Open in 2013 was 28th place… so he didn’t come remotely close.

Mickelson’s 6th and final runner-up finish in this event came in 2013. In the past three years, he has missed the cut in all of them. If he ever to complete the career grand slam, he would have to significantly turn back the clock and do something extraordinary.
