It appears the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, who is facing several criminal charges, might have some relief as the additional assault charge from earlier this month has been dropped. The photographer who alleged that Rashee Rice punched him in the face has decided not to pursue the charges further.

Since winning the Super Bowl in his rookie year, Rice has had an eventful offseason with multiple encounters with the law. The high count of criminal charges has put the future of the receiver under scrutiny as the NFL is likely to punish with several games or season-long suspensions.

The assault charge at a Dallas nightclub, which was added to his list of offenses earlier in May after the infamous Dallas car crash incident, has been dropped. As the photographer told Dallas police, it was rather a ‘misunderstanding.’

There was also a recent accusation by a photographer about him assaulting the photographer on his way out of a club. I can actually tell you the photographer actually dropped those charges. He gave an affidavit to the Dallas Police Department saying it was a misunderstanding and he wants the charges dropped.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported

There was an ongoing investigation about the assault charge, while Rice awaited the court’s proceeding to conclude his previous car crash case, which was nowhere related to the Dallas nightclub incident.

Rashee Rice confronts various allegations and a likely NFL suspension

Even if the assault charge may be dropped, the Super Bowl champion still facing multiple criminal charges from the infamous car crash incident in Dallas. He reportedly caused the crash of six vehicles causing multiple injuries to civilians and fled the scene without checking on them.

He was later reported to have marijuana in the car and possible intoxication as well. When the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked about the action the franchise is planning to take, he said they are awaiting for the law enforcement part to take place first.

Though, his suspension by the NFL is highly likely to take place, regardless of the court’s decision. He is expected to be at least suspended till October, which might be stretched to a year-long suspension.
