The Baltimore Ravens (6-6) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6) on Sunday in a crucial divisional matchup at the M&T Bank Stadium in Maryland. After the Buffalo Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, the Baltimore Ravens have the claim on the division.

However, with the two outfits tied on wins and losses, there’s a chance the Steelers can reclaim the division. The Steelers, despite a strong start, fumbled in the past few weeks before dropping to .500 after the Bills steamrolled in to victory last week. The Ravens, on the other hand, had one of their worst starts in their history but a winning streak and the Steelers’ disappointment has given the fans’ hope that the Ravens will make the playoffs.

The Steelers and the Ravens both made it to the postseason last year. It was the Ravens who nudged the Steelers out of the competition last year in the Wild Card Round. However, they didn’t last long either. The Buffalo Bills’ defeated the Ravens in the divisional round and advanced to the conference championships.

This would be the first of the two games they will play this year. It will also be the 64th meeting between the two teams in history. The two teams first played in 1996 after the Ravens relocated from Cleveland to Baltimore. The first two games had the same scorebug but two different winners. Pittsburgh won the first game 31-17 and Baltimore won the second head-to-head 31-17.

The Steelers have been more fortunate in this particular matchup, winning 36 times overall. The Ravens have won 27 times and there have been no ties between the two.

Why can the Steelers win?

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t lost more than two games at a stretch. They have managed to get a win in between the losses and prevented opponents from completing dismantling the momentum they have built.

Mike Tomlin has ensured that the Steelers didn’t have a single losing season in the past eighteen seasons. As calls mount for his removal, a few fans online are leaning towards the Steelers. Every time ink is dipped to write obituary of the Steelers season, they manage to win continuously and somehow manage a total of nine wins.

Why can the Ravens win?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 28th in the league in yards allowed and they are anything but the Steel Curtain this year. The defensive issues that Steelers have been facing will be what helps the Ravens on Sunday.

The Ravens have been having issues with their rushing game lately and with a weak defense from the Steelers, Derrick Henry have a breakout game.

They also have the home advantage, playing in front of fans. The home atmosphere and a divisional game might also feature a return of the prime Lamar Jackson, who’s been missing in the past few weeks.
