“I will auction it, no problem?” PM Narendra Modi asks victorious Olympians Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu and Lovlina Borgohain if he can use their personal memorabilia for a charitable cause

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hosted the Olympic contingent of India to appreciate their hard work at the recently concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympics which became the most successful Olympic campaign for India at the Summer Games as India won a total of 7 medals.
India’s tally included 1 Gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra in Javelin Throw, 2 Silver medals won by Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Ravi Kumar Dahiya in 49kg Weighlifting and 57kg freestyle Wrestling respectively. Team India also picked up 4 Bronze medals as PV Sindhu won in Badminton Singles, Lovlina Borgohain winning Bronze in Welterweight Boxing, Bajrang Punia grabbing the Bronze in 65kg Freestyle Wrestling.
The Indian Men’s Field Hockey team also won the Bronze in a thrilling match for the Bronze Medal where they staged an epic comeback to win the medal. After a good talk with all the athletes, PM Modi made a special request to Neeraj Chopra asking him, “You have put your signature here. I will auction it, no problem?”

Neeraj duly obliged to the request of the prime minister and presented his winning javelin to support his charitable cause whose details are yet to be out. Sindhu also presented her racquet and Borgohain also offered her gloves to which the PM jokingly replied, “If I wear this, then the people of politics will say that Modi is going to mess up.”
After sharing a light-hearted moment, Modi fulfilled his earlier promise made to Neeraj and Sindhu as he had promised them to have ‘Churma’ and Ice-cream with them respectively if they come back from Tokyo with medals for the country.
With a highly successful Olympics campaign, preparations for the next Olympics will have great enthusiasm as the next Olympics are set to begin in 3 year’s time in France as the 2024 Paris Olympics.
