Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio has left the English side to join Serie A club AS Roma ahead of the upcoming edition of the Serie A.
Rui Patricio joined Sporting CP’s senior side in 2006 after playing for their youth club between 2000 – 2006. In his senior career, he played 327 matches for the Portuguese side until 2018 before making a switch to the Wolves.
He played 127 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers in three seasons across all events the club competed in. He conceded 151 goals during his stint with the club and ended his run with 37 clean sheets to his name. The 33-year-old goalie will ply his trade for the Italian side AS Roma in the 2021/22 edition of the Serie A and will wear the number 1 shirt for the club.
Rui Patricio has signed a deal with the Giallorossi for an undisclosed fee. He was elated to join a new club and was happy to work under the guidance of José Mourinho.
“This is a great club, it represents a new challenge for me and I am thrilled to be able to help this team achieve its goals,” said Rui Patricio. “José Mourinho is one of the greatest coaches in the world and I can’t wait to start working with him and do my best to help the team.”

Patricio has represented his national side in 97 games since 2010. He also played four matches for Portugal in the recently concluded Euro 2020 and conceded seven goals. The Portuguese player finished with one clean sheet. His side made it to the knockouts but lost their Round of 16 fixture to Belgium. With that loss, they crashed out of the event.
