UEFA Champions League: PSG vs Real Madrid Player Ratings as the Parisians get a late goal to win 1-0

PSG vs Real Madrid: PSG hosted Real Madrid at the Stade Parc des Princes in the leg 1 of the Round of 16 of the ongoing edition of the UEFA Champions League.

PSG dominant possession in the 1st half and better chances also fell on their end. They tried to create a lot, but could not capitalize on them. Real Madrid also got a few opportunities but it was defended well by PSG.

The story of the second half was pretty much the same, with PSG getting more opportunities including a penalty which Lionel Messi failed to convert into a goal. However, a brilliant almost a solo goal by Kylian Mbappé in the stoppage time, won the match for PSG. They get a 1 goal advantage in the 1st leg, before they face the Los Blancos in the 2nd leg in Madrid.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (6.5/10): The Italian goalkeeper did not have too much too do as Real Madrid players failed to attack the goal that much.

Presnel Kimpembe (6.6/10): The French defender was pretty solid in the defense today making some good blocks and interceptions.

Marquinhos (6.7/10): The Brazilian centre-back was also very much solid in the defense as he made some good interceptions and challenges and was also good in the air.

Nuno Mendes (6.8/10): The Portuguese left-back had some brilliant moments of carrying the ball and dribbling through players. He was also good off the ball and offered some good runs.

Achraf Hakimi (6.8/10): The Moroccan right-back was effective both on te offensive and defensive end. He defended well against Vinicius Jr. and also offered good runs and passes.

Leandro Paredes (6.7/10): The Argentine defensive midfielder played some really good passes and was good on the ball. He controlled the tempo of the match and made a few challenges.

Marco Verratti (6.8/10): The Italian midfielder made some excellent interceptions and tackles and also made some fine passes with his teammates.

Danilo Pereira (6.7/10): The Portuguese midfielder had a decent performance tonight making some good passes and interceptions.

Lionel Messi (6.5/10): The 7 time Ballon d’Or winner did not have a lucky night tonight as his spot kick was saved the Real Madrid goalkeeper. He however, made some excellent passes and through balls.

Kylian Mbappé (8/10): The French forward was the most dangerous player on the pitch tonight with some excellent shots at the goal. He made some brilliant in behind runs and scored a brllinat late goal in the stoppage time.

Ángel Di María (6.6/10): The Argentine attacking midfielder made some excellent passes and carried the ball well. He also put up a shift defensively.

Neymar (7/10): Neymar had a pretty much instant impact on the game after he came on as the tempo of the PSG game went up. He dribbled passed players easily and tried to create chances. He assisted the only goal of the match with a brilliant backheel pass.

Thibaut Courtois (7/10): The Belgian goalkeeper was absolutely brilliant today as he saved a penalty from Messi and also made a few good saves. However, he was scored passes very late.

David Alaba (6.7/10): The Austrian defender had a pretty much solid game defensively and made some good blocks and stops. However, he could have done more to stop the last attack.

Éder Militão (6.7/10): The Brazilian centre-back was also very much solid defensively and made some good blocks and tackles.

Ferland Mendy (6.5/10): The French left-back did a pretty good job on the left flank making sure not many balls go into the box. He also helped in the attack.

Dani Carvajal (6/10): The Spanish right-back did not have a comfortable night as he was left exposed many times by Kylian Mbappe. He also conceded a penalty.

Casemiro (6.7/10): The Brazilian defensive midfielder made some fine tackles and challenges and also made some good passes. Overall, defensively decent.

Toni Kroos (6.6/10): The German midfielder was good on the ball and made some good combinations with his teammates. He also tried to create chances but could not do much.

Luka Modric (6.6/10): The veteran Croatian midfielder had a pretty similar performance like the other midfielders, being more on the defensive side and trying to cut out the passes from PSG.

Karim Benzema (6.2/10): The French striker did not have a comfortable night as he was clearly struggling with some muscle issue and could not make runs into the box. However, he sometimes dropped and tried to create chances.
