A hilarious incident occurred during the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as umpire Aleem Dar was seen celebrating a correct decision made by him after it was reviewed and not overturned. It is not uncommon for umpires to engage in banter or good-humored actions on the field. Former umpire Billy Bowden was quite renowned for his whacky ways on the field. Dar has now joined in on a similar vein.
It occurred during a match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United. The former had notched up a big score of 196/3 in the first innings courtesy a stunning century from Sharjeel Khan. The others including skipper Babar Azam couldn’t bat at a similar fast pace as Sharjeel however and it proved costly as Islamabad chased the total down with 5 balls and 5 wickets to spare in the end.

During the last over of the match with just 1 run required for Islamabad to win, Waqas Maqsood bowled a delivery to Asif Ali who got an inside-edge onto his boot and the ball went down to third man. Islamabad knew they had got the win but Karachi appealed for an LBW nevertheless which led to umpire Aleem Dar immediately dismissing their appeals as he had spotted the inside edge.
Karachi however, went for a review and replays showed that there was a clear inside edge. Dar was then asked to reverse his decision when he was seen fist-pumping and celebrating before giving it as not out and completing the match. The moment has now gone viral on social media.
