PV Sindhu Wins Bronze at Tokyo Olympics
PV Sindhu won a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, making her the most decorated female Indian athlete, as she added to her silver medal from Rio Olympics. Sindhu’s efforts have paid off, as she won a bronze medal against He Bing Jiao of China in straight sets, 21-13, 21-15.
Sindhu released a statement after badminton at Tokyo Olympics was over, thanking all her supporters and reminiscing about her journey. She appreciated all the well wishes and kind words that she got. She said that the words of her supporters got her through and helped her win.
“I carried it all the way through, and it means the world to me, just as this medal means everything for me to represent our nation.”
PV Sindhu talked about her journey to the Tokyo Olympics, as 5 long years of hard work had paid off, when she made the podium for the second time at the Olympics, becoming the 4 woman in history to do so.
“The Tokyo Olympics has been an experience I will not forget, from preparing for 5 years to stepping on the medal podium- each moment is former etched with me.”

This is Sindhu’s second medal at the Olympics, after clinching a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, the first silver for a badminton player from India. “Its been a day and I still have no words to describe the feeling of holding an Olympic medal, its always a dream come true each time.”
Speaking about the team effort of her coach Park Tae-Sang and everyone who supported her, she said, “Its never just been a solo journey for me to get where I am, I am incredibly thankful to the people in my life, who have continuously been with me through it all. I cannot thank everyone, but please know I am incredibly grateful and thankful for each and every person who has been there with me, and the journey does not stop here!”
