Quincy Wilson makes headlines by lowering his own U18 400m men’s WORLD RECORD

Quincy Wilson has made headlines again by breaking his own U18 400m world record. The 16-year-old athlete clocked an impressive time of 44.20 seconds at the Holloway Pro Classic in Gainesville, Florida. This event took place on July 19, 2024.
The race featured stiff competition. Wilson raced against fellow Olympian Bryce Deadmon, who finished just behind him with a time of 44.23 seconds. Matthew Boling and Jacory Patterson also competed, finishing third and fourth, respectively, with times of 44.84 seconds and 45.02 seconds.

Wilson’s latest time places him sixth in the world for 2024. Notably, he has surpassed U.S. star Michael Norman, who has a best time of 44.21 seconds this year. Wilson is now the second-fastest American in history for his age group, trailing only Steve Lewis, who ran 43.87 seconds during the 1988 Olympic Games.

Quincy Wilson has been rewriting the record books in the U18 400m event. At the U.S. Olympic Trials in June, Wilson set a personal record with a time of 44.59 seconds. He has since lowered his own record three times in just over two months.

Wilson’s latest record-breaking performance came at the Holloway Pro Classic in Gainesville, Florida, where he clocked 44.20 seconds. With his consistent excellence, Wilson has solidified his place as a key member of the U.S. 4×400 relay team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The men’s 400m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics is scheduled for August 5-6. The first round will take place on August 5, with the semifinals and final on August 6. It will be one of the last track events of the Olympics at the Stade de France.
