Rafael dos Anjos returns to lightweight division; Will face Islam Makhachev at UFC 254

The former Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is finally returning to his kingdom- Lightweight division. He will be facing Islam Makhachev on his returning match at UFC 254 on 24th October.
Multiple sources who are close to the situation have confirmed this matchup. However, the fight was initially reported by BJpenn.com.
Anjos will be returning to Lightweight division after 2016 when he faced Tony Ferguson. The Brazillian has amassed a 4-4 record including big wins over Robbie Lawler, Neil Magny and Kevin Lee.
Anjos held the UFC Lightweight title previously in 2015 after a one sided win over Anthony Pettis. Then on, he went on to defend his title against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
Now dos Anjos will attempt to reinstate himself in the lightweight division. He will be facing one of the best upcoming contenders in the division.

On the other hand, Makhachev is on a six fight winning streak with an overall record of 7-1. However, the Russian hasn’t fought in 2020 yet.
The Russian was initially scheduled to face Alexander Hernandez at UFC 249 in April but due to pandemic it was moved to May. But later in May, USA had imposed travel restrictions which forced Makhachev to wait for another chance.
Now, the fight is scheduled between the two and both will face in the same event where Khabib Nurmagomedov will clash with Justin Gaethje.
