Rafael Nadal recently participated in a charity tournament called ‘The Battle of Stars’ at Pula Golf Resort, Mallorca. Over there he spoke to the media about the Roland Garros 2025 final between World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz

It was a match for the history books. Clocking 5 hours and 29 minutes, the epic five-set battle marked the longest Roland Garros final, and the second longest Grand Slam final. It witnessed moments of pure class, sportsmanship, resilience, tenacity and high level of tennis from both players. Speaking about the same, Nadal said:

Tennis is more important than any player, there will always be Grand Slam champions and each one will make their own way, new stars appear and here they are. There are two players far above the rest, they are showing that they are great champions and they should make their way. This is the reality, tennis is in good hands.

Sinner and Alcaraz are now gearing up for the grass season. Alcaraz will start off the grass season with the Queen’s Club Championships, which will also feature players such as the likes of Jack Draper, Holger Rune and Jakub Mensik. Meanwhile, Sinner will kick start the season with the aim of defending his title at the Halle Open. This tournament will also feature players like Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Joao Fonseca.

Rafael Nadal also had a comment on Carlos Alcaraz remembering him during the Roland Garros finals. Nadal’s footprint etched on the clay surface of Court Philippe-Chatrier is already an everlasting reminder of the legacy of the ‘King of Clay’ for anyone who steps on the surface.

After the victory, Alcaraz revealed that Nadal‘s legendary fighting spirit inspired his comeback in the 2025 Roland Garros final. Facing a two-set deficit and three championship points, Alcaraz dug deep to turn the tables against Jannik Sinner. Nadal quipped, about the same:

If he’s able to think of me at that moment, it’s already amazing. I’m very happy for him.

Known for his fighting spirit and great comebacks, perhaps the greatest tennis comeback in the 21st century was engineered by Nadal in the finals of the 2022 Australian Open against Daniil Medvedev. The 2021 US Open champion was only one point away from sealing the victory in the third set. However, the Spaniard crafted a remarkable return recovering from two sets to love down for the first time in 15 years to secure the win and clinch his 21st Grand Slam title.
