Carlos Alcaraz is not your average seventeen year old. Currently ranked no.118 in the world, this tennis player from Murcia in Spain has a bright future ahead. At only seventeen Alcaraz qualified for the main draw of the 2021 Australian Open making him the youngest participant in this year’s men’s singles. And what made the experience better was him winning his opening round encounter against Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets.
Since then his best result has been reaching the Semi-finals of the Andalucia Open. The red clay courts of Marbella, Spain was a special outing for the teenager. He is currently at the Madrid Open where he became the youngest match winner in the ATP Madrid Open tournament history. He defeated Adrian Mannarino and in the process broke Rafael Nadal’s record from back in 2004. In the second round, he faces five-time champion Rafael Nadal. The match is scheduled for tomorrow, 5th of May.

Carlos Alcaraz might have only been a few months old when Roger Federer won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon, but he has confessed to watching old matches of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on YouTube. The 2008 Wimbledon Final has appealed to him the most.
He also believes that Roger Federer, Rafa and Novak Djokovic are so good that they have come from a different planet, like Mars, hence he calls them Martians. Carlos Alcaraz says “I watched the 2008 Wimbledon final between Nadal and Federer on YouTube. They, along with Djokovic, are just Martians.”
