This win marks Alcaraz’s fourth title in 2024. He is the first player to beat Sinner in a final since Novak Djokovic did it at the 2023 ATP Finals. Before this match, Sinner had won all six finals he played this year. Alcaraz now holds a 6-4 record against Sinner. He has also won all three of their matches in 2024. This victory means Alcaraz is the first player to win ATP 500 titles on clay, grass, and hard courts.

At 21 years and 150 days old, Alcaraz is the youngest player to beat the world No. 1 in a final after losing the first set. The last time this happened was when Juan Martin del Potro beat Roger Federer at the 2009 US Open.
