Rafael Nadal‘s uncle Toni Nadal came out in support of Jannik Sinner as the latter is currently surrounded by controversy. Sinner, who has been cleared of any wrongdoing in a short time despite failing two doping tests, has been at the receiving end along with the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

Amidst conspiracy theories, Toni Nadal fully backed Sinner, believing in his innocence. He called Sinner one of the most educated player who cannot do anything wrong intentionally.

I know the player well enough to be able to affirm without hesitation that he is one of the most correct and educated on the circuit. It is unthinkable to me that he could act falsely knowing what he is doing.
Toni Nadal wrote in his column for El Pais

Sinner failed two doping tests in March this year during and after the Indian Wells, due to which, he was stripped of the points and prize money he won in that tournament.

Jannik Sinner says he was treated just like other players

On the eve of his opening match at the US Open, Jannik Sinner explained that as he had the resources to deal with the doping charges, it did not take him much time to get cleared of all the charges. Even though many think Sinner received different treatment from the ITIA because he is a top player, Sinner believes otherwise.

It's also in the position where you are. Obviously, being where I am, I have the ability to take qualified people. Obviously, if this happens to a different player, it's going to be different, but again, I was treated like everyone else.
Jannik Sinner told ESPN

Sinner added that he and his team knew all the information about how he got contaminated, which might be the reason why the investigation did not take much time to conclude. The banned steroid, clostebol, entered the system of Sinner while he was receiving a massage from his former physio, Giacomo Naldi

The physio, to treat a cut on his finger, had been using a spray that is easily available over the counter in Italy. Amidst the scandal, Sinner had to part ways with Naldi, who later accused the media of ruining his reputation

Sinner, at the US Open, will kick-start his campaign against Mackenzie McDonald on August 27. The 23-year-old leads the head-to-head encounter with McDonald, winning all the three matches they have played so far.
