Virat Kohli has always been a consistent performer for Team India in last 10-12 years. He has an incredible amount of self confidence and channels his inner energy to always perform at the best stages. Whenever, there has been an ICC tournament, Kohli has come good and brought out his best on the biggest of stages.

However, the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA has not been a happy hunting ground for Kohli. Although India has qualified for the semifinal without losing any game, Kohli has had absolutely no impact in the wins for India.

This is the first time that Kohli has been shifted from his usual number 3 position to opening the innings for India in any T20 World Cup, but move hasn’t worked for Kohli and Team India. He was the Orange Cap holder in the recently-concluded IPL 2024 but he has managed only 75 runs in the seven games in the T20 World Cup 2024 at a dismal average of 10.50.

Even today, in the crucial semifinal against England in Guyana, he departed for just 9 runs while trying to slog Reece Topley to the leg side as he missed the shot and lost his leg stump. Fans and analysts expected him to come good in the semi final, given that he has performed incredibly well in the knockouts of the T20 World Cup.

When the cameras panned towards the Indian dressing room, Kohli was seen grieving about his performances in this T20 World Cup. Head Coach, Rahul Dravid walked up to him and was trying to console him.

India posted 171/7 in their 20 overs. Kohli will be hoping that his disappointing innings in the semifinal does not cost India a place in the final. The Indian fans will be hoping that Kohli comes good in the final if India manage to beat England and qualify.

Virat Kohli won Player of the Tournament in 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cup

When it comes to the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli has been a different beast. He has been the Player of the Tournament in the 2014 and the 2016 T20 World Cup as he quite single-handedly took India to the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup and the semifinal of the 2016 T20 World Cup. Unfortunately, the other players in the team did not quite live up to the expectations and India could not achieve success despite Kohli’s superhuman effort.

Kohli also stood up for India in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. After a lean patch of three years, he brought out his superhuman abilities against Pakistan in the opening game of the tournament. He was yet again India’s main man with the bat, as he helped India qualify for the semifinal only to be dismantled by a strong English batting performance.
