The PKL 2021 is back after a gap of two years with its eighth season. After missing the thrilling kabaddi action for a long time, the fans will now finally get to witness their favourite teams fight against each other in nail-biting contests.

Over the seasons, we have seen numerous close and down to the wire encounters where fans have been at their edge of the seats until the last second of the match. So on that note, let’s take a look at the top five matches in the history of PKL.

Season 7 – Eliminator 1: Bengaluru Bulls 48 – 45 UP Yoddha

U.P. Yoddha and Bengaluru Bulls were up against each other in a thrilling affair in the Eliminator of the season. In the first half, U.P. Yoddha led by 11 points and appeared to be in complete control. Pawan Sehrawat, on the other hand, had other ideas, scoring 20 points in that crucial game. In the first half, his two spectacular raids trimmed the margin to four points. Surender Gill scored a crucial point for the Yoddhas during the buzzer raid, sending the game to overtime. In extra time, it was all Pawan Sehrawat as the Hi-Flyer guided them to their second semi-final.

The ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari and the ‘Iceman’ Ajay Thakur competed in the first semi-final of PKL season 2. Both teams got off to a great start, but the Bengaluru Bulls pulled away in the second half to take a commanding advantage. With only three minutes left on the clock, the Telugu Titans were behind 25-37. After that, Rahul Chaudhari scored six points in five raids, making things difficult for the Bulls. Only a single point separated the two teams in the final minute when Bengaluru Bulls’ strong all-rounder Manjeet Chhillar scored a crucial raid point to send them to the finals.

Season 5 – Match 5: U Mumba 29 – 28 Haryana Steelers

In the opening half of Match 5, rookie Vikash Kandola and veteran Wazir Singh tore apart a sluggish U Mumba defence. In the second half, though, a different story developed. Early in the second half, the Haryana Steelers had a 12-point advantage when Kashiling Adake’s spectacular 3-point super raid changed the course of the match. Kashiling and Anup Kumar combined for 13 points to lead U Mumba to a thrilling one-point victory.

PKL Season 7 – Match 78: Bengal Warriors 25 – 25 Gujarat Fortune Giants

Bengal Warriors led by two points at halftime, but Sunil Kumar and his teammates came back strong in the second half. Maninder Singh, the Bengal Warriors’ captain, saved the day for his side in the final minute of the game. With Bengal Warriors behind 23-25, he scored two massive points in the final raid to level the game.

Season 6 – Match 9: Patna Pirates 43 – 41 U.P. Yoddha

Rishank Devadiga and Pardeep Narwal, two of Pro Kabaddi’s most prolific raiders, faced off in this match. In the first half, both teams scored an all-out, but U.P. Yoddha led 20-15. Patna Pirates made a strong comeback, with Pardeep Narwal scoring 16 raid points. Shrikant Jadhav missed in his final try to close the gap to one point, and Patna Pirates triumphed 43-41.
