The PKL has been a revelation for the sport and has created a great amount of enthusiasm and buzz among the fans. Over the years, we have witnessed several great performances from raiders who have delivered some exceptional raids. They advance on opposition territory to produce some of the most magnificent moments in PKL history.
We can expect the same in the PKL 8 which is all set to begin on 22nd December in Bengaluru. On that note, let’s take a look at the five best raids in the history of PKL.
Kashling Adake vs Haryana Steelers
The Sangli-born raider Kashling Adake has delivered several exciting performances in the history of PKL. He has been a reliable raider for whichever team he has represented. While playing for U Mumba in a clash against Haryana Steelers, Kashling produced an unbelievable match-winning raid,
U Mumba were trailing by four points against the Steelers in the final moments of the play and needed a miracle to come out on top. Just then, Kashling rose to the occasion to produce a historic super raid. He returned deep into the Steelers’ half after missing touch with his kick, when a corner defender grabbed his ankle. Before hitting the midline, Kashi, as he is affectionately called, pulled free from the ankle hold and evaded the clutches of two additional defenders. Eventually, u Mumba went on to win the match 29-28.
Sunil Jaipal vs Telugu Titans
Sunil Jaipal is a decent all-rounder who is known for the skill to execute a great running hand touch along with a strong waist hold while defending. Jaipal has played crucial roles for his sides in PKL and one such of his performance came against Telugu Titans.
The all-rounder while plying his trade for Bengal Warriors extended his side’s one-point lead to four points when he produced a game-changing super raid. He got past three Titans’ defenders which included their top raiders Rahul Chaudhari and Sukesh Hegde to ultimately grab three points as well as weaken the opponent’s attack.
Ajay Thakur vs U.P. Yoddha
A veteran of PKL, Ajay Thakur is among the most well-established and successful raiders in the all-time history of the league. He is one of the most consistent performers who has delivered multiple match-winning performances. One of his best raids came against U.P. Yoddha in the last 30 seconds of the match when Tamil Thalaivas were trailing by a single point.
Thakur went in the UP’s court and grabbed three points inside five seconds by producing a magnificent super raid. Three defenders grabbed him on the left flank of the court, attempting to force him out but with barely a foot inside the permissible zone, he sprang with all his might and crossed the midline.
Maninder Singh vs Bengaluru Bulls
Another top name on the list is Maninder Singh who guided Bengal Warriors to their maiden PKL title last season. He has been their star performer was past several seasons delivering on a regular basis. He showed a glimpse of his abilities in a PKL 2017 match against Bengaluru Bulls to help his side win the game.
With a lead of just a single point, the Warriors were hoping for something great from Maninder and he exactly did the same. He got through three defenders of the Bulls who were trying to hold him by quickly spinning away from them and crossing the midline.
Pardeep Narwal vs Haryana Steelers
The record-breaker Pardeep Narwal is no doubt the best raider in the history of PKL. Also known as Dubki King, he has broken several records and has etched his name in the record books of the PKL. In a match against Haryana Steelers, Pardeep did something impossible which an individual can only think about in dreams.
He ran past through not two or three defenders but six defenders to inflict an all-out upon the Steelers and produced an eight-point raid. Narwal, who was besieged by the Haryana defenders, disguised a dubki as he touched two players, then walked away, leaving two more in his trail as he knocked off a dazzling dubki and twisted aside on the mat, getting his hand beyond the midline.
