Combat sports and betting go hand in hand. This has been the case since time immemorial, with fans betting on a particular fighter to win and wage money. Musicians and artists are no exception to this. Drake reportedly wagered a cool $675,000 on Alex Pereira to retain his light heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill. With ‘Poatan’ emerging victorious, Drake will look at nearly $1.2 million in winnings.
The Canadian rapper has a history of high-stakes betting on UFC events. He must be extremely confident in Alex Pereira’s victory, given the high amount of money he is betting. His confidence is valid, as Pereira has looked unstoppable since transitioning from kickboxing to MMA. His win over Jiri Prochazka was just the latest example of his otherworldly striking skills. Drake is not known for winning his bets often. But this time, he has upped the ante for the historic event.

Pereira’s stock will only keep rising with a win over Jamahal Hill this weekend. It’s no wonder Drake was so confident in putting down almost three-quarters of a million on ‘Poatan.’ But Jamahal Hill is no slouch with knockout power and is a complete fighter. His power and multi-faceted skills make him a tough opponent for the Brazilian.
Still, the hustle is real. Not everyone has the courage to put their money where their mouth is like that. Drake saw an opportunity, and he seized it. Now, he hopes to reap the rewards of his risky adventure. The UFC 300 headliner will most definitely be an unforgettable event.
Drake’s bet against Alex Pereira at UFC 287 earned him a staggering $1,325,000 payout
Rapper Drake laughed all the way to the bank after his massive UFC 287 bet paid off in a big way. The Canadian superstar reportedly put $500,000 on Israel Adesanya to beat Alex Pereira. He had also wagered $400,000 on ‘The Last Stylebender’ to score the knockout. When Adesanya delivered a stunning KO win, Drake won both bets and became $1.825 million richer.

Adesanya’s performance against his Brazilian rival was nothing short of masterful. The way he picked Pereira apart and then finished him with that incredible KO was masterful. It was no wonder Drake would put so much on the line. Drake is also infamous for the ‘Drake Curse.’ He has been associated with fighters losing whenever he bets money on them. He broke that curse with this bet on Adesanya.
The rapper, however, lost another bet at UFC 287. He had bet on Jorge Masvidal vs. Gilbert Burns, predicting a knockout win for ‘Gamebred.’ However, Burns rallied and went on to win the fight via decision. This bet cost Drake $500,000. But overall, he took home around $1,325,000. Only time will tell if fortune favors Drake for UFC 300.
