Super cool guy, I was surprised to see how humble he was. It was cool to get to know him there. Years later, we’re still talking about how he is the biggest artist in the world.

Towns recalled how anxious Drake used to be before their games, while the team remained notably calm. He also praised Drake, mentioning his humility despite his massive achievements, which stood in contrast to his larger-than-life persona.

Sharpe then asked the new Knicks signee to choose between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, referencing the long-standing music rivalry between the two rappers that has forced many to pick a side. Towns, however, took a diplomatic approach. He praised both artists, expressing his admiration for their work, but ultimately leaned toward Drake, citing that they are close friends.

Drake was a regular presence at Kentucky games, frequently bonding with the Wildcats and becoming one of their most vocal supporters. It was during this time that Towns and Drake formed a friendly relationship. After Towns’ standout season in 2015, he was drafted into the NBA by the Minnesota Timberwolves as their No. 1 pick. He played nine seasons with the team before being traded to the New York Knicks last week.
