It appears the NFL isn’t going to let Rashee Rice off the hook so easily after the infamous car crash in Dallas. Given the gravity of the incident and the wide receiver’s unforgiving act of running away from the scene of the crime, the league is inquiring about the matter with the utmost sincerity and strictness.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that the Kansas City Chiefs receiver is likely to face a multi-game suspension for his involvement in the Dallas car crash last month.
However, Rice is already facing criminal charges of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of a collision involving injury.
Usually, in matters like this, the NFL lets the legal process end before taking any action against the athlete involved. Therefore, it appears Rice would likely be present on the field in week 1 of the 2024 season, given that the legal proceedings take time.
As per the police report, the Super Bowl champion was driving the sports car at a speed of 119 mph seconds before the crash, which resulted in an accident involving six cars. The authorities also claim that Rice fled the scene, neglecting the other drivers injured.
The receiver is currently participating in the Chiefs’ offseason program virtually due to the legal proceedings. Until that plays out, there’s also a possibility that the NFL may impose a suspension of a year on the receiver.
Fan reaction to Rashee Rice’s rumored multi-game suspension
While the receiver and the fans await the legal process to work out, fans demand more serious punishment or action by the NFL against Rice. Even though he apologized for his uncalled decisions, fans aren’t in support of the first-year wideout in any way.
When the NFL insider reported about the multi-game suspension, the NFL fans demanded it should last at least a year or even more. ,
