Baltimore Ravens HC John Harbaugh has secured a three-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through 2028. Harbaugh, 62, was entering the final year of his contract in 2025.
Harbaugh is one of the longest-tenured active coaches in the league. He is, in fact, second on the list of longest-tenured coaches just behind Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 as the head coach after years of garnering experience across the country.
The Ravens owner, Steve Bisciotti, has long stated that he prefers not to let head coaches operate in a “lame-duck” situation. In an exclusive with ESPN three years ago, Bisciotti confessed that Harbaugh has shown a constant pace of growth in the past years. Seems the pace is still something the owner and management could get along with.
Since his takeover in 2008, John Harbaugh has led the Ravens to 172 regular-season wins and 13 playoff victories. He guided the team to a Super Bowl XLVII win over the San Francisco 49ers and has consistently kept the Ravens among the league’s top teams.
The Ravens have made the playoffs in 12 of Harbaugh’s 17 seasons, missing the postseason only five times. They have reached the divisional round 10 times and the AFC Championship Game four times, showing consistent success under his leadership.
A point of criticism has been the team’s recent playoff struggles. Since their Super Bowl win in 2013, the Ravens are 4-7 in the postseason and have not returned to the championship game. However, they remain a contender every year. Last season, the Ravens emerged as a top contender as usual with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in blowing hot form.
The 2025 season looks promising for the Ravens, with quarterback Jackson and most key players returning. Unlike last year, when Harbaugh had to replace multiple assistant coaches, the staff remains largely intact.
John Harbaugh’s contract extension fetched good receptions despite playoff struggles
Although John Harbaugh holds the NFL record for most road playoff wins, his recent form hasn’t been much of something to write home about. The Ravens start fiercely and end up choking in the major playoff games despite Lamar Jackson, a two-time NFL MVP, in their arsenal.

Nevertheless, the fans aren’t all displeased in the slightest about the records or hold any hatred towards the sexagenarian from Toledo, Ohio. They have flooded the socials with positive notes of appreciation towards Harbaugh as well as praised the Ravens’ leadership.
He’s a very good HC. Gotta do what you can to keep him

One user also commented on how the Ravens’ latest move ensures the longevity of the brothers dueling against each other in the league. The Harbaugh Bowl is one of the iconic matchups in the past two decades of the game.
I like it, congrats!

Amid the love, there’s a good amount of distrust among the Baltimore Ravens fans. The playoff failures since 2013 have been building, creating a sizable number of people who want to see John Harbaugh replaced. 2025 is the season for him to show that they thought wrong—and probably get a tattoo.
