The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 has been a highly contested series just like the previous ones. India won the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, and Australia came storming back with a 10-wicket victory in the second Test in Adelaide. India fought hard to draw the game with the help of rain in the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. The fourth Test will be held at the MCG on December 26, and Team India still have the chance to retain or win the BGT.

Ravindra Jadeja, the star Indian all-rounder, is confident that his team will go on to win the BGT on Australian soil for the third consecutive time. Jadeja stated that the team is in a very confident space after the series being level at 1-1 going into the Boxing Day Test.

He reminded everyone that if India go on to win one of the remaining two Test matches, then they will retain the BGT, as India have won the series 2-1 in the last two tours of Australia.

We are in a good position, after three matches, it’s still 1-1. It is going to be interesting. Even if we win one match out of the next two, we will retain the series because we have won the last two times here. It’s a good opportunity to push ourselves and do well in Melbourne. Yes, we will worry about the last match later, the focus now is on the Boxing Day Test. It’s a crucial game for us.

Ravindra Jadeja said while speaking to the press at the MCG

Australia haven’t been able to win the BGT since the 2014/15 series at home. Since then, they have lost four Border-Gavaskar trophies on the trot (2 at home and 2 away from home). Moreover, the WTC 2025 Final is also on the line. If India wins the remaining two Tests, then they will qualify for the final without depending on anyone else.

Ravindra Jadeja is in controversy after the press meet at the MCG

Australian media, Channel 9, has alleged that Jadeja has ignored them during the press meet at the MCG. They stated that they were called by the Indian team’s media manager, but Jadeja answered the questions in only his native language and did not speak English.

It is, however, a well-known fact that Jadeja is not highly proficient in speaking English.

Meanwhile, Indian media have defended the all-rounder, stating that he has the right to answer the questions in his native language and that it is the duty and responsibility of the Australian media to translate his answers and publish them in their briefs.

Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been Jadeja’s bowling partner for the last decade, announced his retirement from international cricket after the end of the third Test. It was a shocking decision, as no one saw it coming, and that too in the middle of an away series.
