Liverpool won their first leg Round of 16 clash against Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the Champions League 2-0. Errors from Marcel Sabitzer and Nordi Mukiele ensured that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored the crucial away goals for Liverpool. Liverpool and RB Leipzig will travel to the Puskas Arena once more in order to see out the 2nd leg of their tie.
RB Leipzig will want to take advantage of Liverpool’s terrible Premier League form
Liverpool have been on a run of 6 consecutive home defeats, having already broken their own record of 4 consecutive defeats. The all-time Premier League record is 8 games and Liverpool have the possibility of equalling that record with Aston Villa and Leeds United next at Anfield. RB Leipzig will want to take advantage of Liverpool’s bad form and use it to their advantage.
RB Leipzig have won their last 4 matches on the trot and will be primed to challenge Liverpool for the win. The former has to overturn a 2 goal deficit and Liverpool will want to defend strongly while scoring more goals to put the tie away from them. This is what RB Leipzig fullback Angelino stated in a conference.
He said that the pressure was on Liverpool as RB Leipzig were underdogs in this fixture and it was Liverpool who had to defeat them. The pressure was on Liverpool and that is what RB Leipzig was going to use to their benefit. Liverpool however have the motivation of winning the Champions League in order to qualify for next season’s edition as their hopes for top 4 in the Premier League fade fast.
